Dallas Chevy Dealer Explains the GM Auto Protection Plan

Dallas Chevy Dealer Explains the GM Warranty

The GM Warranty covers the vehicle from bumper-to-bumper for 3-years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Some of the most popular vehicles on the road are built by GM and this can be attributed to the fact that they are built to very high standards. But vehicles are made of many moving parts and even the best vehicles can have mechanical failure. Because many people drive more than 36,000 miles per year, mechanical problems may occur after the Bumper-to-Bumper warranty expires, and repairs can be costly. This is why many dealers recommend an auto protection plan.

Although this is an excellent warranty, there are cases
where a vehicle has experienced mechanical failure within months of the warranty
expiration. This is frustrating for the owner and for the dealership who must then charge
for repairs that may have been covered had the buyer chosen a Chevy extended warranty.

The GM Protection Plan is offered at several different levels of coverage and is used to
supplement the original warranty on your GM vehicle, and the price is comparable to the
level of coverage. Vehicle protection coverage types include:

Major Guard – Covers virtually every component of the vehicle as well
as Alternate Transportation, Roadside Assistance, Trip Interruptions and
Towing
Value Guard – Covers parts and labor for nine major vehicle components
Basic Guard – Covers parts and labor for four major components as well
as towing for covered repairs
Smart Protection – A service contract for leased vehicles similar to Major
Guard
Smart Care – Specific vehicle maintenance coverage for chassis
lubrication, oil, oil filter and tire rotation
Goodwrench Care – Limited vehicle maintenance that covers a specific
number of oil changes and includes filter replacement

Purchase of GM Protection Plan

The GM Protection Plan can be purchased at anytime that the manufacturer’s warranty
is in effect for new vehicles. You must purchase the auto protection plan at the time you
buy a used vehicle, however.

The Chevy Extended Warranty offers added protection to your vehicle and offers
more peace-of-mind as you drive your car
. The best way to think of an additional auto
protection plan is like auto insurance. Although you hope you never need to use it,
when you do need it, you are thankful that you have it. For more information on vehicle
protection plans, feel free to contact us.
